Kitchen Challenges

We solve the headaches of
community catering.

You focus on the nutrition. We'll ensure it gets there safely.

Spills in the Van

Gravy leaking into thermal boxes creates a mess for volunteers and a bad experience for clients.

The fix

Hermetic Top Sealing

Hard-to-Open Lids

Seniors with arthritis often struggle with rigid plastic lids, leading to frustration or skipped meals.

The fix

Easy-Peel Film Technology

Lukewarm Food

Cheap containers lose heat rapidly. By the end of the delivery route, the meal is cold.

The fix

Insulated Bagasse & PP

Soggy Eco-Boxes

Standard compostable boxes turn to mush when holding stew or gravy for more than 30 minutes.

The fix

Film-Lined Eco Trays

Dietary Mix-ups

Using generic containers makes it hard to separate dessert and main, risking diabetic compliance.

The fix

2 & 3 Compartment Options

High Cost of Lids

Snap-on lids are expensive. Switching to film sealing can save a kitchen thousands per year.

The fix

Film is 70% Cheaper

The PrestoPak Standard

Built for Community Catering

We understand the specific challenges: tight budgets, volunteer drivers, and vulnerable end-users.

Senior Friendly

Arthritis makes rigid lids hard to open. Our 'Easy-Peel' film technology allows seniors to open meals without knives or scissors.

Leak-Proof Transport

Hermetic sealing means trays can be transported at any angle in volunteer vehicles. Zero spills, zero mess, zero cross-contamination.

Portion Control

Standardized 1, 2, and 3-compartment trays help you manage food costs and meet strict nutritional guidelines for every meal delivered.

The Meals on Wheels Packaging Handbook

1The "Cook-Chill" Challenge

Many Irish services have moved to Cook-Chill (preparing meals in advance to reheat later). For this, the packaging must be freezer safe and oven/microwave safe.

While unlined bagasse struggles here (it gets soggy), both our PP Trays and Lined Bagasse Trays are engineered to withstand the freezer-to-oven journey without losing integrity.

2Portion Control & Nutrition

HSE guidelines often require a separation of protein, carbohydrates, and vegetables. Our 2-compartment and 3-compartment trays are standardized. This ensures every client gets the exact nutritional value intended, and helps kitchens manage food costs by preventing over-filling.

3Machine vs. Hand Pack

Smaller kitchens often start with Clamshells (no machine needed). However, once you pass 50 meals a day, the cost of labor and lids outweighs the cost of a machine. A Tray Sealer allows one person to pack 300 meals an hour, with a hermetic seal that guarantees hygiene.

Help & Support

Community Kitchen FAQs

Q
We use the standard 2-compartment plastic trays. Do you stock those?

Yes, we stock the industry-standard 34oz (approx 1kg) 2-compartment Polypropylene (PP) trays. They are compatible with most standard sealing machines.

Q
Are the Lined Bagasse trays truly compostable?

The base material is compostable bagasse. The liner is a very thin percentage of plastic (needed for food safety). They are recyclable with soft plastics or industrially compostable depending on your local waste facility rules.

Q
Do you offer credit terms for registered charities?

Yes. We work with many registered charities and community employment schemes. We can set up credit terms upon approval.

Q
Can the film be peeled easily by elderly clients?

Absolutely. This is a priority for us. We supply 'Easy-Peel' lidding film specifically designed to require very low grip strength to open.

Q
Do I need a machine for the Clamshells?

No. The Bagasse Clamshells have a hinged lid and a tab lock. They are perfect for soup & sandwich combos or smaller kitchens without machinery.
